Love & Beauty Sermon, Pt. 7- Love Gives Access

By Abigail Barrett

ree

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” -Romans 8:28

In closing, I want to bring your memory back to the beginning of our conversation. If you recall, I said, “Jesus loves you” is the most liberating thing you can tell someone.

Well, we have an adversary, the devil, and he is well aware of that. He wastes no time in oppressing people with spirits of abandonment, rejection, infirmity, etc., so that they are blind to God’s love. The reason for this is because he knows the access that comes with God’s love.

If this were the 4th reason for why God’s love is better than that of our earthly fathers, then I would say: God’s love give access to better benefits.

The love of our earthly fathers gives access to their limited resources, but our Heavenly Father is unlimited in resources!

Take a look at Esther. She approached the King in fear of her life, but it was out of love for Esther that the King heard her petition. We, too, approach the King of Kings in fear of Him because we are unaware of the love that He has for us and the willingness He has to grant our petitions.

Also take a look at the persistent widow and the unrighteous judge in Luke 18. Many of us miss the punchline of this parable. We focus on the persistence of the woman and miss Jesus’ question at the end:

“Will not God, [the righteous judge], give justice to His elect?”

His elect are the ones that He chose, that He predestined, that He loved. God answers our petitions not only because of our persistence and faith but also because of His love for us.

Many of us are missing out on our access to God because we are missing out on His love for us. But it’s a good thing that there’s an easy fix to that problem: to accept God’s love.

If you are reading this and you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, it is my pleasure to let you know that God loved you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you. His death on the cross was the payment for your sins, and He rose three days later with all power in His hands. If you repent of your sins and invite Jesus in your heart, He will forgive you of all your sins and give you His Spirit to help you to walk in newness of life. This new life will give you identity, security, and access to heavenly benefits.

And if you are reading this and you are a Christian that has not tapped into the fullness of God’s love, my prayer for you is that God will reveal the depths of His love to you. Don’t live beyond your means as a child of God; take advantage of all the benefits God’s love has to offer.
